When the New Year rolls around, I always look forward to my tradition of sharing Chicken Soup with Rice by Maurice Sendak with my preschoolers. It is a little known book about a boy who eats this yummy soup each month of the year. He loves it so much he imagines all of the things he could do with chicken soup with rice....swim in it, water his roses, boat down a river of the good stuff....The best part is we get to try it, too -- just the eating of it!
